Corrective Counseling is the process of creating internal responsibility within the mind of an employee so that they will choose to change their negative behaviors. It is a way of digging in deeper to the mind of the employee to initiate change. It is different than progressive discipline. Progressive discipline is about moving an employee toward exiting the organization. Corrective counseling is about a deep dive into the psyche of the employee in order to generate the idea of change in their mind. It is more intense than coaching and less harsh than discipline. It is a "right-up" instead of a "write-up."
